Then Look Into Real Estate!

Real estate agents must obtain a license form the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC). FREC requires all applicants be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or a GED and that they complete and pass a course approved by FREC. Once you complete the course and pass the end of course exam you can take the state exam to receive your license. A minimum score of 75% is required to pass the state exam.

When you pass the state exam you may activate you license at the exam site by turning in a completed application form. The broker of the firm, where you will be placing your license, must sign the application form. When selecting a firm to place your license with we strongly encourage you to select a REALTOR® member firm. A REALTOR® is an agent who, in addition to meeting state requirements, has chosen to become a member of the National Association of REALTORS®. By joining this organization, REALTORS® agree to follow a strict code of ethics. Consumers who hire REALTORS® can be sure they will be treated fairly and professionally. REALTORS® are the only agents allowed to use the “R” logo. The logo serves as a seal of approval and helps the public identify professional REALTORS®.

The REALTORS® Association of Indian River County offers our members Ethics and Professional Standards instruction in order to maintain the exceptionally high standards of excellence in business required by the membership. Members are also offered numerous programs, products and service that enhance their professionalism. They also have access to a legal hotline through the Florida Association of REALTORS®. Free of charge to all members this service ensures our members are getting the most current legal information available.

In addition to the Code of Ethics and the continuing education offered to Association members, we also have a county wide multiple listing service that contains over 10,000 active listings for Indian River County. The multiple listing service allows you to offer your clients the best possible exposure whether they want to buy or sell property.
